Spring 2016 Season Preview

spring16

We’re now halfway (~six weeks) through the Winter of this new year, so we thought it was about time to take a look at what’s on the horizon once things warm up a bit and the deciduous trees start to bud.

Below is a list of we’ve found that might interest us so far, using MAL as a guide (all shows link there for more details). Note that as always, we have not consumed any of the source material for these shows, be it manga, novels, or games. We’ll be reviewing and rating purely on the merits of the anime adaptations, where applicable.

If we know a show is really bad (or just not our thing) from just the first ep, that show will be dropped. However, we typically give shows 3-4 eps to prove themselves worthy of our limited and very important time. A show below may also change if it turns out to be, for example, more up Zane’s alley than Preston’s. By week 5, we’ll be reviewing no more than twelve (12) shows, which means 9 of the shows below will be cut.

If you believe we’re missing out on an upcoming Spring show, let us know in the comments and we’ll take it under advisement.

* = carryover/second season/sequel.

  1. I don’t recognize too many of the series next season. I know Boku no Hero Academia is apparently popular, but I’ve never read it. Are any of you watching Ace Attorney? I feel like as long as they stick to the story from the games, you’re in for a real treat with that one.

    1. Ace Attorney (Japanese title Gyakuten Saiban) has been added to our watchlist. That brings my total to nine, but I’ll be shedding at least half of those by mid-April. This one does looks promising, though, just because of the odd premise.

      Thanks for the rec, Randy!

      1. Did I ever use my name in this blog? O well, Randophilus is more of a joke rather than anything anyways.

      2. Haha, no, I don’t think you did! I just extrapolated “Randy” from your handle. Like one of those anime characters that insists on giving everyone a nickname.

  2. My Hero Academia has been a hit manga recently and is something you all should give a chance this spring season!
